Baltimore Breakups: A Pop-Up Memoir zine

Baltimore Breakups Pop Up zine by Julia Arredondo

Baltimore Breakups: A Pop-Up Memoir is a 5-page pop-up zine. Baltimore Breakups illustrates my most memorable romantic breakups while living in Baltimore City during my undergraduate career at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Currently out of print.

Zine details:

Baltimore Breakups: A Pop-Up Memoir is approximately 6” x 8” in size, entirely hand-assembled, and reproduced via photocopy. The zine is saddle-stitched and was originally published through Vice Versa Press in 2014.

Baltimore Breakups was completed as part of my residency at the Jaffe Center for Book Arts in Boca Raton, Florida. Baltimore Breakups was awarded the Baltimore Citypaper’s “Best Pop-Up Book” in 2015. Read the article HERE.

Copies are available for borrowing around the USA.

The narratives are peppered with choppy, romantic (but relatable) hyperbole, giving each story kind of a noir-ish sensibility, along with the black-and-white brick pattern that pervades each scene and the characters’ ‘50s-ish retro style.
