Elm City Small Press Fest Waterville, Maine 2021

The Elm City Small Press Fest was a community event that focused on independent publishing in the Mid-Maine region. The event highlighted contemporary print and publishing culture while activating conversations around creative labor and commerce as viable artistic practices. The goal of the fest was to inform attendees of contemporary creative publishing while stimulating and promoting creative economies in the area.

The event took place at the Greene Block + Studios in November of 2021. I co-organized the event alongside Colby College Bixler Fine Arts Library, Fannie Ouyang.

As part of the community engagement segment of my Residential Fellowship at the Lunder Institute for American Art, I co-organized the two-day Elm City Small Press Fest to include over twenty local exhibitors, an open mic event and a full day’s schedule of workshop programming. Institutional funds were raised to pay all who were involved a fair compensation fee.

The event was a success and welcomed over 300 visitors and community members to the inaugural publishing event on the Colby College campus.
