No More Lazy Lover Altar

  • Arcade Gallery 618 South Michigan Avenue Floor 2 Chicago, IL, 60605 United States (map)

As part of the Weisman Award Exhibition at Columbia College Chicago, the No More Lazy Lover Altar will be live and on display in the Arcade Gallery at 618 S. Michigan (Floor 2).

Inspired by botánica culture and spaces for devotional practice, the “No More Lazy Lover Altar”
intends to empower those who seek romantic mediation and control through love magick. By
entering the ritual space of the altar, participants are invited to be “washed” by a video blessing
that plays on-demand with the click of a button. The “No More Lazy Lover Altar” counters
non-reciprocal relationships by employing video projection as a form of spiritual cleansing and
prayer. Targeting lovers in the age of online dating, the altar encourages community
conversation about modern love in our current age of digital romance.

The No More Lazy Lover Altar will be open to the public, and free of charge. Exhibit hours are tentative.
