PRODUCE Gallery of Corpus Christi, TX will open a unique exhibition featuring Corpus Christi artist Julia Arredondo on August 20th for one night only. Temporary Imports: A Collection of Carried Work by Julia Arredondo will feature works by Arredondo, including her highly travelled series of prints, zines and a completely new collection of transient collages. In addition, the exhibition will be supported by Arredondo’s creative collaboration with publishing entity, Vice Versa Press, which will offer limited edition pinback buttons and publications for sale on-site.
Born in 1987 in Corpus Christi, Julia Arredondo received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. Arredondo has spent the past five years travelling as an Artist-In-Residence to hosts including the Jaffe Center for Book Arts (Florida), Southwest School of Art (Texas), and CAC Woodside Troy (New York). Arredondo is currently touring the country with a zine tour featuring her latest publication, “Baltimore Breakups: A Pop-Up Memoir”.
Temporary Imports: A Collection of Carried Work by Julia Arredondo is a collection of work created in different locations around the country. Each individual print, zine, and collage represents a different locale and a different circumstance under which each piece was made. Reflecting her lifestyle as a travelling artist, Temporary Imports is a homecoming show for Arredondo as she visits Corpus Christi en route to Kansas City.
