For Better Friendship zine was made in 2017 during a workshop with Marc Fischer of Temporary Services. Utilizing the concept of the library as a space for inspiration and creative research, I approached the two specific archives (La Retama Library in Corpus Christi, TX and Harold Washington Library in Chicago) as site-specific divination tools allowing books to “choose me”.
For Better Friendship zine is a collection; a collage of written texts/images pertaining to friendship. Utilizing how-to texts and magic recipes to entice camaraderie; For Better Friendship is an experiment in ritualizing the library as a space for divination and information bathering.
This current printing (approximately 50 copies) is photocopied in black ink on speckled paper and shimmer cover stock. The zine was originally published by Curandera Press and risograph printed at Columbia College Chicago.
